Stitching Through Time: Macra-May (We’re Knot Knitting!)

This event is no longer on sale.

Sunday May 12

2:00 PM  –  4:00 PM

“Stitching Through Time” is a monthly crafting series where you’ll meet to make a project and learn about its history in the process.

Often considered a craft cliché of the 1970s, macramé is actually a versatile fiber art form which originated among Middle Eastern weavers in the 13th century and was all the rage during the Victorian Era. The artifact collection at FCMoD includes lovely macramé objects from that period.

Join us on Sunday, May 12 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm to explore this fiber art form with local macramé artist, Lucie Wenzel. You’ll view “knotty” pieces from the collection and then receive all the instruction and supplies needed to create your own charming macramé wall hanging.

Ages 16+, with exceptions for parents with children who would like to come along. $12/$10 for members.

Note: If you are a museum member, be sure to register and sign in using the links at the top of this page for a discount on your tickets.
